Helena Sellart Ollearis

Helena is a former senior Judge at the Barcelona Court of Appeal (civil and commercial division). Since 1994 she is a lecturer at the ESADE Business School in Barcelona, where she teaches courses (in English) on Spanish Civil and Commercial Law as part of the MBA's programme. In 1995 she was awarded a scholarship for the Law and Economics Programme at Harvard Law School. She also is an English/Spanish legal translator.

•PHD Courses, Faculty of Law, University of Girona, Spain. “The Protection of Constitutional Rights”, two-year course culminating with a final paper entitled “The Death Penalty”, 1992-94.

•PIL Diploma and Law and Economics Degree, Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Boston, USA, 1994-95.

•1995 (July-August): Seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights”, Salzburg, Austria. She was awarded a scholarship by the Harvard Law School due to her doctoral thesis: “Co-authorship and neighbouring rights”. Lectures given on the subject.

Teaching:

•Lecturer in the MBA courses on “International Commercial Arbitration” and “Conflict of Laws” at the Universitat RAMON LLULL (Barcelona) (1998-1999).

•Speaker at the CATALAN CIVIL LAW SEMINAR, Jornades de Dret Català (Conferences on Catalan Law”) held at the University of Girona, Spain, 1992- 1993.

Publications:

•"New Employment Opportunities in the Third Sector (NETS)” co-author with the FUNDACIÓN FERRER I GUARDIA, of a study on non-profit organisations in Europe, jointly with the UNIVERSITY OF ROME, “LA SAPIENZA” and the UNIVERSITY OF BREMEN, GERMANY. Date of publication: June 2001.
